Education Scholarships and Awards

The Zaka Khan Foundation (ZKF) is sponsoring 13 students in the sciences at Al Quds University in Jerusalem beginning in the 2011/2012 academic year. The ZKF is paying for the total costs of tuition for talented students that do not have the financial resources to continue their education.

Closer to home, the Zaka Khan Foundation has just awarded two scholarships for $4000 each to two outstanding graduates from Suffern High School in New York State. We wish to congratulate Aimee Werfel and Laura Cohen for being the first recipients of this annual award. We wish them luck in their future endeavors. Additional scholarships will be given each year to two more outstanding seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

The Zaka Khan Foundation is also awarding scholarships to students of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Grants to Organizations

In August 2011, the Zaka Khan Foundation provided $5000 to Giving to Ghana to allow 17 students to attend a five-day Conflict Resolution seminar at the Catholic University College of Ghana. Giving to Ghana is a non-profit organization established to help the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana, West Africa, effectively serve the less fortunate and underprivileged people she ministers to in rural Ghana. The goal of the Foundation is to make a difference in the lives of the people through the provision of social and economic amenities.
